eVisitor Subclass 651 Australia 2026: Free European Visitor Visa Guide
The eVisitor (subclass 651) is a free electronic visitor visa available to holders of specified European passports who apply from outside Australia.
12-month validity and three-month stays
The eVisitor is valid for travel for 12 months from the date of grant and allows multiple entries. The holder can stay for up to three months after each entry while the visa remains valid.
Official source: Department of Home Affairs — eVisitor subclass 651.
What can you do on an eVisitor?
An eVisitor can be used for tourism, visiting family or friends and permitted business visitor activities. The visa can also allow study or training for up to three months in total, although a Student visa is more appropriate where study is the main purpose.
Can you work on an eVisitor?
No general work right is provided. Home Affairs expressly states that you cannot work in Australia on an eVisitor, although limited volunteer activity can be possible in appropriate circumstances.
Free application
The Department currently lists the eVisitor visa application charge as free. Eligibility depends on holding a passport from a designated country, so travellers should not assume every European resident is automatically eligible.
