For those who fit this category, there's an opportunity to apply for a subsequent visa until February 1, 2024, when all applications for this visa category will cease.
Who's Affected?
Starting September 2, 2023, all other visa holders will become ineligible to apply for the Pandemic Event visa. To facilitate a smoother transition, this extended timeframe aims to provide employers with the time needed to find new workers while allowing existing visa holders to consider their options. They may explore alternative visa options if they are eligible or make arrangements to depart Australia before their current visa expires.
The Pandemic Event Visa's Purpose
Introduced in April 2020, the Pandemic Event visa played a crucial role in enabling temporary visa holders to remain in Australia lawfully during border closures. It also addressed labor shortages in critical sectors within the local economy. However, with Australia's borders now open and temporary visa holder numbers back to pre-COVID-19 levels, the need for the Pandemic Event visa has diminished.

Eligibility Criteria for Further Visa
Starting September 2, 2023, Pandemic Event visa holders will be eligible for another visa only if their current visa is set to expire within 28 days or less at the time of application, and they possess a job or a job offer in Australia. A Visa Application Charge (VAC) of $405 applies for applications submitted from this date, and a visa charge applies to each family member included in the application.
