CSIT and SSIT 2026: $79,423 and $146,576 Skilled Visa Salary Thresholds
Australia indexed its principal skilled visa income thresholds from 1 July 2026. These figures matter when employers prepare new nominations under key employer-sponsored visa programs.
Current thresholds from 1 July 2026
Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT): AUD 79,423.
Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT): AUD 79,423.
Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT): AUD 146,576.
Which visas use these figures?
The CSIT applies to relevant nominations including the Core Skills stream of the subclass 482 Skills in Demand visa and relevant subclass 186 settings. The SSIT applies to the Specialist Skills stream of subclass 482. The TSMIT applies to relevant subclass 494 and legacy regional nomination settings under the current legislative framework.
The threshold is not always the salary you can simply offer
Employers must distinguish the statutory income threshold from the separate market salary and nomination requirements. If the relevant market salary is higher, meeting the threshold alone will not necessarily satisfy the nomination requirements.
When did the new figures start?
The 2026 amendments apply the revised thresholds from 1 July 2026. The legislative materials explain that CSIT and SSIT increased from the 2025–26 figures of AUD 76,515 and AUD 141,210 respectively, while TSMIT was set at AUD 79,423 and aligned for future annual indexation.
